oval into it's present configuration.

Bobby Johns was actually involved in the wreck with Buddy Young. It was
such a hard hit that the front-left wheel was ripped off, and he
suffered burns as well. But the accident was caused by a blown engine.

I saw the You Tube video highlights of this race too. Very good footage.
A lot of big names were knocked out of this race. Richard Petty tore his
car up hitting the wall and the repairs were not enough to continue. It
looked like "The Rock" was a very tough track to drive in this race.
