But they ran 281 for some reason 2. dtroppens posted: 12.20.2008 - 9:46 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) No one won more Grand National races at South Boston than Richard Petty. And this was his last. He won five overall. I have some books that detail the races. I will check it when I get home why it went 281 laps. Quite often back then, someone lost count of laps and at the end the winner wasn't really known because of a protest. This has a feel of being one of those races. But that's just a guess. I'll try to remember to check it and update your issue when I can. 3. schraderfan posted: 01.09.2014 - 4:47 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The number of laps is almost always the lowest number to be over the distance. 280 laps would be 99.96 miles. 4. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 12.08.2017 - 12:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) W1970-37 South Boston Here the driver standings after this race (Top20): 1) Bobby Isaac = 2892 points 2) James Hylton = 2880 3) Bobby Allison = 2821 4) Richard Petty = 2493 5) Neil Castles = 2425 6) Jabe Thomas = 2371 7) Elmo Langley = 2345 8) Dave Marcis = 2240 9) Benny Parsons = 2196 10) Frank Warren = 2056 11) Dick Brooks = 1921 12) Wendell Scott = 1903 13) Cecil Gordon = 1798 14) John Sears = 1772 15) Bill Champion = 1590 16) Pete Hamilton = 1486 17) Bill Seifert = 1472 18) Ben Arnold = 1440 19) J.D. And what's with changing your posting name every 3 posts? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
