My first NASCAR race. Fred Lorenzen subbed for Leroy Yarborough in a one
race deal in Jr Johnson's Ford and crashed. Baker's winning car sat in
Darlington's museum approximately 30 yrs when Cotton Owens sold it on
ebay for major $$$

At least 60 cars were entered for this one. There was supposed to be a
consolation race held on the Saturday.

According to the ABC Wide World of Sports broadcast which NASCAR posted
on their website, Bill Dennis was the first alternate starter (perhaps
in Dave Marcis' car)?
