It was Bobby Allison's first of 5 points runner-ups. I really know nothing about this season besides Issac won the championship, Petty won the most races and broke his shoulder, and the last dirt race in the Cup series was run. The points worked like this I think. half-mile tracks or shorter it went 50 to the winner then one point drop, from half-mile to one mile 100 points to the winner with a two point drop, tracks over a mile awarded 150 points to the winner with a three point drop. 3. hyltonfan08 posted: 01.10.2009 - 5:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Final career cup start for Roy Tyner. 4. schraderfan posted: 02.18.2009 - 5:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Points were 50 for less than 250 miles, 100 for 250-399, and 150 for 400+ miles race distance. This one paid 50 for the winner so I think Isaac clinched the title at Rockingham, like so many others. 5. They found out that a lot of tracks were slightly bigger or smaller than originally advertised. Bristol, Martinsville still use the measurements we discovered that year. And since Langley didn't return for the '71 season, this was the only time we used this length. 13.
