Pearson spun both himself and James Hylton from a battle for the lead
after 180 laps. Hylton was eliminated as his car struck a guardrail
while Pearson was able to drive away without damage.

In addition to being Pearson's last win in the Holman-Moody #17 this was
also the Silver Fox's last win in a Ford...although his upcoming move to
the Wood Brothers would see him bring FoMoCo an iconic amount of success
at the wheel of a Mercury throughout much of the 1970s.

Not to mention that this is also Pearson's final race at Bristol until
1979. Just today, I found out that during his venture with the Wood
Brothers, Pearson NEVER ran a race at Bristol with them. I wonder why..

@5 - During that time, the Wood Brothers focused on the big tracks. They
really didn't run any short track races aside from Martinsville, which
was their home track.
