ABC's Wide World of Sports televised it and they had a 2hr time slot. 5. Sébastien posted: 07.23.2009 - 12:04 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) David Pearson #17 was sponsored by Purolator. 6. Full copies of the race have surfaced. 10. Doug posted: 10.20.2011 - 12:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I own a copy of this and noticed a mistake down here. The Car listing for Dick Brooks and Bobby Allison is wrong. Allison had the 1970 Dodge and Brooks had the 1969 Dodge. 11. As late as the night before this race he wasn't planning to enter it until the team decided to give it a go and towed the car down the morning of the race to give it a try, playing a double-sized entry fee of $100 to get into the race. Of course their late minute effort would net the victory in this historic race so it was a good call to give it a shot. 23. binkerbo posted: 01.19.2019 - 10:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) According to the video on YouTube LeeRoy Yarbrough was a DNQ in the #44 not the #45. Bill Seifert drove the #45 in the race. 24. Anont posted: 11.15.2019 - 10:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) While in the pits, Wendell Scott's sponsor was "Scott Racing" 25. Bobby Isaac won both races in the 1971 season. The tracks were local southern tracks. So I guess it was a mistake by Fox Sports, where I initially heard it 26. Picking one of the shorter races on the schedule meant the race could be run start to finish within ABC's planned time slot. This remained NASCAR's only live, flag-to-flag coverage until CBS famously aired the 1979 Daytona 500 although many notable races would see tape delayed, highlighted coverage in several ways during this era on several networks or through automobile programs like "Car and Track." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
