Jack Ingram was second followed by James Hylton, Jimmy Finger and Frank Warren. Also in the field were Darrell Waltrip and Tiny Lund. 9. Fittingly the last race for the "Plymouth by Petty" branding ended with the Petty Blue #43 Roadrunner in victory lane one more time. 10. His wins came in a Dodge Charger, Ford Torino, Mercury Cyclone and a Ford Mustang. 11. kup posted: 11.14.2017 - 12:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) UPS: universal points system. Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, Jim McElreath, Lloyd Ruby, and Roger McCluskey were initially entered but were denied permission from USAC to compete in the race. Therefore, they were all withdrawn prior to qualifying for the race. Source: Ultimate Racing History. 14. MSportRev posted: 11.12.2019 - 4:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @14 all that I've been able to find is that USAC was 'trying' to crackdown on drivers that competed both in their stock car series and NASCAR. Whether this had anything to do with that, I don't know. 17. David posted: 11.12.2019 - 5:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Speaking of USAC stock cars: It would be great to have that data on this site & be able to see those results on the driver pages (A.J. Foyt leaps to mind). Ultimate Racing History has that series, or at least some of it as far as I know, but I have no idea what it would take to incorporate it here. 18. I think we have to come to accept that a lot of old racing series have missing results and are never going to be found at least not complete. 19. possum posted: 11.12.2019 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @16 - NASCAR (i.e. Bill France) had intermittently refused to allow NASCAR drivers to participate in USAC races for many years (a feud which dated back to the days when the AAA claimed the right to sanction all racing in the US), so this was probably a retaliatory move by USAC. @18 - my guess would be that all those results are in National Speed Sport News, which reported results from pretty much every track everywhere (if they're reporting the results for the street stock class at Bronson, they're definately reporting for national series like NASCAR and USAC). So all we need is someone with a lot of spare time to go up to Watkins Glen and dig thru the archive. 20. Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, Jim McElreath, Lloyd Ruby, and Roger McCluskey as WDs since technically it was a rival sanctioning body that forced them to withdraw? 21. KW posted: 11.12.2019 - 9:33 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) #19 National Speed Sport sometimes had full field run downs but sometimes they just listed the top 3 or 5. I've got a ton of issues (as well as Illustrated Speedway News) and it's surprising what they did and didn't have sometimes. 22.
