He was battling with Bobby Allison when he got forced up the track. He climbed the guardrail and looked like he was going to go into the grandstands, but he clipped a chain-link fence and got thrown back on the track. And he still had the lead. If you have a copy of NASCAR Chroncle, it will say that Petty said, "I cant believe I still had the lead. I cant believe that there is wheels still on the car." It was something like that. 2.
