Even though Pearson led 155 of the 200 laps and won by 16 seconds, there
was a lot of good racing between him, Issac, Petty, Allison, and
Hamilton even though Hamilton was a lap down due to a flat tire.

Richard Childress ran this race in a white-and-gold Plymouth that was
usually Frank Warren's backup car. Childress' one-off with the Mopar saw
him finish in the top-20 while Warren, driving the team's usual #79
Dodge, fell out early with a blown engine. Childress has always been a
GM stalwart with this being the second and last time he would start a
Cup race in a non-GM product.
