It was so hot, oil was leaching up out of the asphalt making it very slick. There were cars sliding off into the ditches and into each other all along the highway. 3. Check out my website for the picture of him in victory lane. I believe I own the car that won the race.. 4. Rob posted: 03.24.2017 - 1:00 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Not exactly NASCAR's finest hour. Petty, Allison and Isaac were the only three big name drivers who made the trip to Texas. Ken Squier did the best job he could to add pizazz to what amounted to a Petty rout. Isaac was the only car that could run with RP and after he started having ignition problems it was pretty much game , set and match. 25. The car retired shortly after. 29. Glenna posted: 02.13.2021 - 2:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was at that race and also the one in ?73. The heat was bad. The race was exciting. I can't remember if it was this ?72 or ?73 race that a jackrabbit ran out on the speedway and Yarborough sucked it up! Cause quite a stir! The traffic was horrific. Took 1 1/2 he to drive 20 miles and I was suffering from a horrible sun burn. But it was good times! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
