They should reconfigure some of these cookie cutters to be unique like this one. Just add some banking. NASCAR cars nowadays + low banking + high speeds = Boring! 9. v2v1v5 posted: 02.19.2013 - 3:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Most of the drivers at the time refered to this track as "kidney" shaped, with its unique "dogleg" in the backstretch. They went a little to the right before turning left for turn 3.And yes,it would be great to have Trenton on the schedule now a days.Sad this track isn't around anymore. 10. After Donnie signed with Bud Moore this car was reworked in Junior Johnson's shop in Ronda, NC and Trenton was its first official race. It was reported that this very Chevrolet was sold to Hoss Ellington (Fred Lorenzen's car owner) after Trenton. Bill Shirley was DQ'ed for entering the pits via the wrong way. Bill was involved in the first caution of the day, having spun on John Sears' oil and went to pit lane for repairs in the opposite direction of traffic flow. 12. The 1973 race was actually rained out at least a couple of times IIRC. The official "final try" was scheduled for August 5, 1973 14. rateus posted: 02.21.2021 - 11:48 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I already posted this on the 1973 Volunteer 500 comments page but it makes at least as much sense to put it here. I now have the full starting lineup for the Northern 300 scheduled for Trenton on July 15th 1973 (courtesy of that day's Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper): 1. Bobby Allison #12 Chevrolet 131.707 2. Mel Larson #98 Chevrolet No time Only these 30 cars turned up when 40 spots were available - maybe the $46,000 purse wasn't enough to entice anyone else. There were 2 minor accidents during practice, Lennie Pond was fixed in time to qualify and local boy Ed Hessert wrecked after qualifying but was confident all would be good to go on race day. Then it rained. The race was rescheduled for 5th August but the promoter pulled the plug on July 27th. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
