This was the first race I went to, I was nine years old. All I can
remember was that Pearson dominated the race and that Buddy Baker was in
the 71 Dodge not Bobby Isaac.

It only lasted 36 laps due to transmission failure but this was the last
race for George Altheide

Official NASCAR race report is screwed. The most glaring contradiction:
Bobby Allison completed 331 laps, but listed as a lap leader from lap
228 to lap 332. Also, the report says Petty was driving a Plymouth,
however Southern Motor Racing with reference to Dale Inman listed it as
Dodge.

Cautions:
72-85 - #2 oil on track
140-149 - debris

David Pearson after the finish was treated in the infield care center
for exhaustion and declined to participate in the traditional winner's
interview in the press box located above the grandstand. During the race
Benny Parsons was in Wood Brothers' pits ready to relieve Pearson if
necessary.

Correction: first caution was for the oil from #16 car driven by Dave
Marcis

Alabama's Ben Arnold matches his career-best Cup finish in sixth. This
was Arnold's 21st and final Cup top-10 finish but he never broke through
for a top-5.

The final of three career top ten finishes for Charlie Roberts with two
of them coming at Dover.
