He ran most of the last 2 seasons in non-competitive cars yet he was one of the most fearless racers ever. 4. He was one talented race driver. This could be inaccurate information, but I think it's correct. 7. Also seen are the #21, #67, #24, and the K&K #71. Also of note in the film is a blue/black Dodge that crashes. Believe that to be the Dave Marcis owned #2 that was driven by Ray Hendrick. They give about 10 minutes time to the Martinsville race in this film, including a military jet flyover before race starts. Some very cool footage. 8. awesomebillfan9 posted: 10.25.2012 - 6:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The race had 56 entries for 36 starting positions, with the last six positions determined by a 20 lap qualifying race. One of the 20 drivers to miss the field was Joe Frasson. Petty and Allison had a great battle near the end with Petty knocking off Allison's gas cap. Allison was black flagged for the missing cap, but Allison ignored it and then got into an accident with Ed Negre. After the accident Allison's car wasn't the same and he couldn't hang with Petty. Allison was fined $500 dollars for ignoring the flag. 9. One of the most bizarre things about the shoot was that there was a multicar pileup before the cameras started rolling. 11. He said: "If I had been driving our car that Plymouth would never had finish the race". Allison said that he would pay Ed Negre for repairment of his car damaged in the accident when Bobby's tire blew. Bobby Isaac returned to the action in one of Junie Donlavey's car. This race is the most vivid example of Junie's collaboration with promoters. I heard but never found any confirmation that he received bonuses for giving rides to drivers whom promoters wanted to see at their track. Before the race Martinsville was repaved and during the latter stages of the race the asphalt began to break up. Because of small asphalt particles on the groove the track was very slick. 13. Jeff Bridges' "Junior Jackson" got the winner's spoilers but his "stunt double" from Hueytown not so much. 15.
