Baker had a much better car then Pearson, however, since the race was
ran caution free, Pearson dominated Baker on pit road. Everytime Baker
came out of the pits, He'd be behind Pearson, and then he would catch
him. On the final pit stop, Baker's #71 team was 3.2 seconds slower then
the famed Wood Brothers crew. Baker lost by 1.1 seconds.

Too bad there was only one race at MIS in 1973, and so Pearson ended up
with only 11 wins out of 18 races he entered. Had there been a 2nd race
as per every other year at MIS, Pearson would have been 12 wins out of 19!

NASCAR actually held up the start of this race a few minutes because
there was a very large fan turnout and not everyone had made it to their
seats yet at the originally scheduled start time.

This race was probably Ron Keselowski's finest hour in the Cup series as
he started in the top-5, ran in the top-10 all day, and finished in the
top-5. This was Keselowski's first race back on the tour after
demolishing his car in that infamous big one in the opening laps at
Talladega a few races earlier.
