David Pearson was the class of the field, everyone else was just hanging on trying to keep up with him. Still remember sitting in that rain, hoping they would get the race in and they finally did. 2. mcmurrayfan posted: 06.14.2006 - 10:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Neil Bonnett's (RIP) Winston Cup debut. 3. One crew member from the Penske team was struck between the two cars and he was later amputated a leg... 5. He would later be a part owner in Penske's NASCAR operations. 6. Pearson survived when all of his top competition didn't finish 9. 18fan posted: 03.10.2009 - 6:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, Pearson ran down Parsons after Benny beat David out of the pits. Pearson on one lap passed like six cars on the backstretch. Also they only ran 170 laps because of the 10% cut of the first half of the 1974 season's races due to the energy crisis. 10. Petty and Yarborough had brought out their big block engines thinking that the reliability would pay off, but Pearson running a 351 Cleveland held on for the win. Both Allisons ran small block Chevy's but they didn't seem to hold up as well as the Fords. 14. It was Buddy Parrot, crewman for Buddy Baker at the time, who acted first and stopped bleeding from Donald Miller's leg using his belt. 15.
