Bobby Allison contended that Cale Yarborough was a lap down; NASCAR later said a scoring mistake had indeed been made but the win stood. 7. mkl62 posted: 11.27.2014 - 10:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And Bobby let that go? He was the type that would argue with the Lord or the devil and wouldn't stop until he won. Donnie was the exact opposite. His last win was the November 1978 race at Atlanta. They then said that Richard Petty won, but later rescinded it, giving it back to Donnie. He wasn't the type to fight you on anything. Then came Daytona, February 1979.... 8. After a couple days NASCAR said he was probably correct, but the rule book said protests of that sort needed to be filed during the race. I'm not sure how Bobby handled it, but it does seem like a black and white call. 9. Actually proving your point further that was Bobby Allison, not Donnie, who was throwing punches with Cale. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
