This was one of two Cup wins here for the King with both following his lone career USAC Stock Car win here a year earlier as noted in post 3. This was a good day for L.G. DeWitt and his King's Row Fireplace team as their double-barreled assault on this race was a successful one. Benny Parsons had the team's regular #72 up front and brought it home with a top-5 finish while sprint car legend Jan Opperman was brought to race a year-old Chevrolet as a second car, the #77, and brought his one-off entry home with a top-10.
