Roller tappets "connect" the camshaft with the valve pushrods and produce better power. 2. Despite winning at Martinsville and taking Rookie of the Year honors for 1974, this was basically the end of Ross' career. When Carling left Johnson's team after the season, Ross was left rideless. He'd make just two more starts in Cup, one in each 1975 and 1976. 5. JM posted: 09.30.2013 - 2:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) My 1st NASCAR race. I was 13. All I remember is it was very windy and A.J. Foyt leading the race. 6. kup posted: 11.14.2017 - 12:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) UPS: universal points system. Dick Brooks ('74 Dodge) qualified 17th but withdrew. First alternate was Marcis but he had already done his deal with Langley, second alternate Tony Bettenhausen ('72 Chevrolet) didn't step in either so DK Ulrich got a race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
