The crash with Marcis, Waltrip, Parsons, and Pond was bad and forced
both Waltrip and Parsons to have relief drivers at Bristol. Benny was
running with Petty in that race until he had to give up his seat to
Walter Ballard because of his injuries.

That's nothing, @6. Bruce Hill, who finished fifth, was an astonishing
27 laps behind the winner and 13 laps behind the fourth place finisher,
Dick Brooks, who was himself 14 laps behind the winner. But that was
more commonplace in that era than you might think. Two years earlier,
David Pearson won the spring race at Darlington by 13 laps over Benny
Parsons, who was barely able to even finish, and Bobby Allison, who was
third, didn't even make it to the finish.

1st career start for Dr. Dick Skillen. He'd run only 5 races in his
entire career, all in 1975.

My mistake on Dick Skillen. He ran 17 Winston Cup Grand National races
from 1974 to 1985.
