Since both Benny Parsons and Darrell Waltrip were suffering from
injuries sustained at Rockingham earlier in the year, they wern't able
to finish the race. Near the end of the race, Benny Parsons got out of
the car and put Walter Ballard in. Likewise for Waltrip, as he put in
Dick Brooks in the #17.

Ricky Rudd collects his first career top-10 in start number two...in a
field almost half the size of the ones he'd be accustomed to later in
his career.

Parsons was hanging with Petty the whole day until he had to get out of
the car.

Regarding the comment on David Pearson, The Wood Brothers rarely raced
at the short tracks.

Why were there only 23 cars in this race? The previous several races had
mostly 30 cars.
