Henley Gray started 374 races in Cup, but this is the only race where he
led laps - 2 of them right after Coo Coo Marlin's big wreck.

This was the first Cup race at M.I.S. to have a corporate title sponsor.
In all prior years the August Michigan Cup race had been called the
Yankee 400 (Probably not all that ill fitting given how the vast
majority of NASCAR races were still in the South back then).

Jackie Rogers matches his career-best qualifying effort with a
ninth-place starting spot but reaps none of the benefits as the motor on
his #60 Chevrolet failed in the opening laps, resulting in a last-place
finish.

This is likely the race Dave Marcis once talked about where Cale kept on
bumping him and called on the radio and said that if Cale hit him one
more time he was gonna park him and to tell Nord (car owner) that he was
sorry if it tore his car up. Cale rebutted by saying that his car has
been handling terribly all day and that Cale hitting him fixed all the
handling problems.
