Driver Change Update:

Bill Champion qualified the No. 10 before Ed Negre raced the car to a
21st place finish.

Dave Marcis's first win came in his 227th start, at that time the
longest wait for a first taste of victory. Only Michael Waltrip,
Sterling Marlin and (as of last weekend) Michael McDowell have since
made it to victory lane after a longer wait.

It wasn't Marcis's first time seeing the checkers however, he relieved
Bobby Allison in the 1970 Volunteer 500 and completed the job Bobby
started to win by 2 laps.

According to the season standings on this site Frank Warren should be
credited with 12th place here, not Dean Dalton - his total of 3148
points includes 127 given for this race.

This makes sense to me, it's far more likely that Warren (running a full
season and interested in points) would buy a start from Dalton (only
running a part season) than the other way round.
