David Pearson was a thorn in Petty's side, plain and simple. It looked like he would beat Petty again but I knew different. Of course with ABC's delayed coverage (1 week) who didn't? But it was how! This time it was Petty with the last lap move in turn four. A fake high then a dive to the low side to outfox the "Silverfox" for the win! 2. However, after listening to the Throwback Thursday coverage of this race, I wonder what race you are talking about. There was no last lao, last turn pass for the win in this one. 7. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 01.22.2016 - 6:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Note: Manufacturers championship after this race: 1) Dodge = 165 points (13 wins) 2) Chevrolet = 131 (4) 3) Mercury = 68 (3) 4) Ford = 67 (2) 5) AMC Matador = 49 (3) 8. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 01.22.2016 - 6:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Note: Rookie point standings (presented by Carling at the time) after this race: 1) Bruce Hill = 348 points (21 races) 2) Carl Adams = 312 (16) 3) Bruce Jacobi = 229 (12) 4) Ferrel Harris = 149 (8) The points are accumulated only on the best 15 race performances. 9. It was the last lap he ever led in Cup competition. 11. bbigjohnson posted: 04.15.2018 - 2:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I mixed this race up with the Champion Spark Plug 400 at Michigan a few months earlier. By the time ABC got around to showing that one it probably was October. 12.
