Right now the streak is at 951 consecutive races with at least one Waltrip. Today (May 25th, 2006) the Cup cars qualify for the Coke 600. Hopefully Mikey makes the race! 2. biffle16 posted: 02.26.2007 - 11:13 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) He wouldn't, but he bought his way in! Just like Darrell did in 2000. 3. NASCAR at Indy would be unthinkable in 1975. 11. The Great Dave posted: 01.25.2016 - 9:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Found an entry list for this race! After the race was over and darkness was upon us I remember the glow of the fires on the not too distant ridges.... It was a blessing that Cecil Gordon, who I was working with, had engine problems that put him out of the race. A tie-rod end had backed out and was just hanging on by just a thread or two. That would have been a destroyed car and a long winter of building it back. 15. Because they were a late entry no points were awarded. 16. kup posted: 11.14.2017 - 12:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) UPS: universal points system. Had he made the Round of 12, he would've been the champion. 21. At the post-season awards banquet he was presented a unique championship trophy that instead of being a traditional prize was instead a stylish blue and red jukebox filled with all chart-topping country music of the era. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. It's now 45 years later but the King still has that jukebox, it's on display in the Petty Museum. 22. Allison and Penske ran a part-time campaign in 1975 with their 19 starts being a real go or blow effort; they had 10 top-5 finishes, including three wins, but failed to finish every other race they ran. Penske and Allison would stay together for 1976 but moved on from the unique Matador; the AMC would get one last ride at Riverside to open the following season but the team switched over to Mercurys for the rest 1976 after that. 23. rateus posted: 02.19.2021 - 11:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) John Ray qualified for Elmo Langley, looks like the car was swapped as well as Boyd was in a '75 Chevrolet. Dick May qualified 40th and last but was replaced by Don Puskarich in the race line-up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
