Not bad for 2 Sandlappers!!!! 2. The cost of running Fords might have been more expensive than running a Chevy by the mid 1970's, otherwise there would have been more teams running them by 1976. 3. 83andJoe posted: 09.15.2013 - 5:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #10 sponsor: Sunny King (same for all races this year except Daytona 500). 4. During the broadcast Ken Squire mentioned Cecil Gordon and Coo Coo Marlin where testing Chevrolet McLaren engines in this race. I'm assuming this engines where based off of McLarens Can-Am engines of the time, anyone have more info? 5. Under the yellow the leaders all pitted with Yarborough regaining the lead only for Pearson to blow by him on the backstretch right after the restart and take the win. Overall it was still a good day for Yarborough as he capitalized on a 74-point swing in the point standings to vault back into the points lead as a result of Benny Parsons' issues. 6. That aerodynamic improvement was illegal at the time but later became common place in later years. Allison still recovered to finish third in part due to how few cars were left on the lead lap and the late caution. 7. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 07.03.2020 - 7:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 33-40: #29 engine Caution 2: Lap 171-176: #92 spun Caution 3: Lap 193-198: #14 engine 8. rateus posted: 02.15.2021 - 5:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bill Hollar qualified for Walter Ballard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
