I don't know if that was due to an outbreak of the conflict between NASCAR and USAC, or because Ellington was just late on entering races ("post-entry" cars don't score points). Ellington didn't run the whole season, so points were irrelevant to him anyway. 12. I think Bobby Allison did that in USAC stock cars 1 year in the 70's.
