Cale then went winless at MIS for years but then rebounded at MIS during 1982-83 winning three times. Elliott took over in 1984 winning seven times from June of 1984 thru the June of 1989 race. Had Davey Allison not died in 1993 he might have topped those three drivers for total wins at MIS. 3. myself posted: 01.27.2012 - 10:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Pretty good points, Wall. 4. My old owner! I drove for him back in Michigan many many years ago". Yet I see that that isnt the case at all, especially given Thomas' notes above. Perhaps this was a joint effort with Dunlevy? Or perhaps David was losing his marbles? I figure if someone would know whether they drove for someone, the driver would know. David Pearson bested him to win both races in the Wood Brothers Purolator #21 Mercury as he claimed the season sweep. This race was almost a case of deja vu for fans as weirdly the top-4 was the almost the same in this one as it had been for the earlier race in June with Richard Petty and Bobby Allison as the only other cars on the lead lap just as before; the only difference was that Allison was third in June while Petty flip-flopped their positions with his third-place run here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
