Things from this race that will never happen again:

1. Cale won by 7 laps.
2. 2 Cautions at Bristol.
3. Winner got $23,300
4. Cale lead all but 5 laps at Bristol.
5. 30 entries.

J.D. McDuffie - "Fatigue" .....that's something you'll likely never see
again in a NASCAR race.

The happiest man at the track after the race was Rick Newsom. Ralph
Moody put Rick in the #68 car as Janet Guthrie needed relief. Rick told
me, "Ralph offered to pay me but I could not take his money! The best
car I have ever driven!"

David Pearson drove in relief for Benny Parsons who was suffering from
neck pain.

One of only 2 Bristol races ever to average more than 100 mph. This was
the second.

John Utsman qualified for Elmo Langley and Baxter Price qualified for
Larry LaMay. Dick May qualified 30th, he either stepped aside for Buddy
Arrington or withdrew to allow Arrington to start in his own car.
