In the 60s and 70s, when his car held together at Riverside he was usually a factor for the win Darrel Waltrip had a strong car early on but transmision problems sidelined DW after 40 laps Also the best career finish, 6th, for west coast driver Norm Palmer 2. He would score only three more poles after this in his career: Two more in 1977 and one in 1979. 5. bigjohnson posted: 04.09.2016 - 3:42 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I was at this race and Petty was dominant that day. It was surprising that he won the pole, it was a forecast of things to come. I think I remember he said they really put a lot more work into the car this time. I didn't know this was last 1-2 Petty, Pearson finish. Cool I was there. 6. Only six of Petty's 200 Cup victories came on road courses with five triumphs here at Riverside including this one and one on the old Bridgehampton course in New York; ironically both tracks that no longer exist. 7. Plymouth is defunct as of June 29, 2001 (just about 30 years after its final NASCAR race.) 9. It is miss-labelled. It is 1974 Plymouth Road Runner. The last year this car was eligible. 11. Canadianfan posted: 04.19.2020 - 8:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @12 There is no Dodge model that looks like that picture. Plus I'm really good with identifying cars I know that's a ?73-?74 Plymouth Road Runner. 14.
