He had been leading the points since the season opener @ Riverside. 3. That stat really sticks out when you look at his career numbers and look at those seasons you can consider the prime of his career. 6. myself posted: 08.20.2009 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What was B.Allison's problem in 77? 7. allen posted: 05.07.2010 - 8:17 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Trying to run a Matador on his own was Bobby's problem. He had a small sponsor and had lots of blown engines but he would rebound bigtime with Bud Moore in 78... 8. ii posted: 09.07.2010 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, the Matadors sucked. This year was one of the last for Dodge too until 01. 9. Terry Maynard posted: 02.02.2012 - 6:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It was in 1984 that Neil Bonnett hit the deer 10. Petty cut a tire at Lap 25 under green; second year in a row he had to pit under green at Pocono. I linked the 1976 Pocono radiocast on Facebook. 13. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 06.22.2014 - 7:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lap 34-44: #40 engine failure Lap 48-51: #25 accident turn 1 Lap 107-111: #98 accident north straight Lap 124-128: #11,15,16 accident turn 1 14. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 06.22.2014 - 10:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) corrections Lap 48-50 #25 accident turn 1 Lap 124-126: #11,15,16 accident turn 1 15. He missed leading wire to wire by a mere 8 points. 16. oldgrandnational posted: 12.18.2017 - 5:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bobby did struggle with the Matador on his own. The car did win several USAC races and the 1978 World Service life 300 at Charlotte in '78 as a Late Model Sportsman. 17. To compound on that, in 1978 Petty would go winless and never sniff the points lead, and it wouldn't be until the third-to-last race of the 1979 season where Petty would lead the points. 18.
