That's not correct. Pearson relieved Benny in the spring race. Here it
was Dave Marcis. Both times the driving change was pre-arranged, since
Benny was struggling with his ailing neck for the duration of the season
and Bristol was especially tough for him.

Hey, no worries. I'm just glad to see those who were at these races back
then coming online and sharing what they know. I didn't become a fan
until the mid-1990s so its really cool to hear back on what people in
the 1970s saw and thought at the track.

Janet Guthrie?s sixth place finish here stood alone as the best finish
by a lady driver in NASCAR's modern era of Cup racing, until Danica
Patrick matched it in the 2014 Fall Atlanta race.

Both trail one spot behind Sara Christian as far as Cup history goes,
who finished 5th in the penultimate race of the 1949 season, at
Pittsburgh-Heidelberg Speedway.
