Lennie Pond had the fastest car there that day, but he cut a tire while
leading with 77 to go and came out over 24 seconds behind Parsons. He
cut the gap to less than 3 at the flag but Parsons had just enough to
get there first.

Pond came so close to winning...maybe if he did he could've gotten a
ride he deserved and won about 6-7 races.
