My first Cup race. Saw it as an early teen. Couldn't believe the
despised Cale led flag to flag. But at least my trusty 43 in the old
Magnum posted a respectable 3rd. Had my pic taken next to the King's STP
box trailer...or so I thought. Turned out it was Buddy Arrington's
trailer that was a hand-me-down from PE! I had to sprint to get to the
King's hauler to re-do the picture.

I was so happy that Saturday night listening to that race on the radio I

What are you talking about, the story above was from a fan who attended
this race (how cool is that they went to this race and were cool enough
to post here about it 30 years later?) talking about confusing Petty's
hauler and Arrington's ex-Petty hauler.

This race was originally scheduled for the 13th of May but was pushed
back to June after a rain delay at the preceding race at Talladega
caused Nashville's date to be taken over by Talladega's.
