What a huge winning margin for BP ahead of Petty. And only one caution?
When was the 4-lap caution, was it very early in the race?

Last victory for L.G. DeWitt and his #72 Chevy.

Richard Petty has a rare strong run in the boxy and slow Dodge Magnum.

Former race winner and West Coast ace Ray Elder has he's final top 10 in
his next to last start. It was his final start at Riverside which was
the site of most of his success

First of three top 10s for Jim Thirkettle, a West Coast driver from
Sylmar, CA

Career best 20th for California driver Harry Goularte

Every one of L.G. DeWitt's 12 victories as an owner were with Benny
Parsons driving. Together they won the 1973 championship and the 1975
Daytona 500. The DeWitt/Parsons partnership lasted from 1970-1978 and
Benny only finished outside the top 10 in points once in 9 years and the
last 7 years he drove the #72 he finished in the top 5 in points.

Looking at the qualifying line-up for this race, both Gary Matthews in
the #41 and Vince Giamformaggio in the #19 should be listed as driver
changes, for Ernie Stierly and Dick May respectively.
