Elmo Langley makes his last start in his signature #64. He run just one
more race after this in 1981 at Dover driving the #66 for Lake Speed

The King finished 3rd in this race with relief driver help from Jimmy
Insolo who had fallen out earlier in the racer. Considering Petty won
the championship by only 11 points, this was a huge deal to get the
relief help.

I was at this race, I have some pics but could be from another Riverside
race. I still have the ticket stub. General Admission was $ 8.00

After three years of failing to qualify in his one-off West Coast Cup
attempts Burbank racer Chris Monoleos manages to get on the grid for his
only NASCAR Winston Cup start by drafting in ringer Joe Ruttman to
qualify his #92 Chevrolet. Monoleos took the wheel for the race but the
part-time Winston West racer's Cup career would last just two laps
before a transmission failure ended his day.

In addition to the above, Vince Giamformaggio also qualified for Jimmy
Means.
