Fortunately, the injuries weren't life threatening, but it was a frightening wreck. 5. rob posted: 09.24.2009 - 5:15 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) comment #4 by bill completes the bill. 6. The 1987 Champion Spark Plug 400 was a terrific race, and four years later you had the close finish between DJ and Davey Allison. I'm not sure what the reason is behind the bad races at MIS the last dozen years or so. Maybe with the cars getting so aero efficient the draft is less effective and the fields spread out too quickly into a green flag segment? Add to that it's a wide track with less cautions and you tend to get more cheap fuelie wins. Junior and Mark Martin being the latest to get some cheap fuelie wins at MIS. The crowds are staying away from the races at MIS in droves beyond what you would expect given the dire Michigan economy. 10. He would switch to using a variety of different numbers from here on out, normally the #6. He changed numbers to free up the #42 for young Kyle Petty to use it, reviving his family's use of the digit his grandfather Lee Petty had made so famous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
