On the last lap he was running third when the leaders came up on a bunch of lapped cars. When they cleared them he was in first. I still don't know how he did it. 2. He didn't score another top 10 finish after 1979, despite running for Rookie of the Year in 1994. 5. It would have been his NASCAR debut. Earlier in 1979, Kyle was going to try to debut in the World 600 but tore up a couple of cars in practice and did not make a qualifying attempt for that race. 7. 18fan posted: 04.08.2010 - 3:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Wood Brothers firing Pearson was Bonnett's big break as it rescued him from Jim Stacy's failed team and he posted his best numbers with the #21 FoMoCo cars. 8. He led the last 28 laps so that was not for the win. He made those moves to keep from being passed by Benny Parsons who was right on his tail in second place. 10. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 07.03.2014 - 3:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 19-24: #6,21,32,38 accident turn 2 Caution 2: Lap 93-97: #15,44,68,70 accident backstretch 11. 3688 posted: 07.01.2015 - 9:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Wasn't Marty Robbins suppose to be in this race? 12. myself posted: 02.17.2016 - 12:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I wonder if Bonnett was injured in the victory lane celebration? 13. Neither driver was hurt but the heavy crash put both drivers out of the race. 14. acerogers58 posted: 01.29.2020 - 7:42 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) WD: #42 Kyle Petty STP (Petty Enterprises) Dodge, crashed during qualifying on Sunday and withdrew from the race, his consequence for wrecking the car was working on his dads pit crew. 15. zuel660 posted: 02.20.2021 - 7:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Al Holbert was usually dominant at Daytona on the road course in the 24 Hours, driving a sleek Porsche 956 or 962, but he was probably a little behind the proverbial 8 ball here on the oval in a boxy Monte Carlo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
