Good for Sterling. Having a good run until the DNF. He really deserved
better rides, he'd have maybe 30-35 wins if he'd gotten a good ride
earlier in his career.

My Dad took myself and my brothers to this race....After the race was
over, I got Cale Yarborough's autograph when he came out of the infield
bathroom....super nice guy.

Steve Spencer's Sponsor was actually "Performance Racing Network" One of
the radio networks that covered Racing back then.

Richard Petty usually ran a Chevrolet Monte Carlo in 1979 but his team
debuted a new Chevrolet Caprice stock car in this race then ran it in
several other short track races later in the season. The King's first
outing in the new Caprice netted him a top-5 finish.

The hometown heroes owned this one. Darrell Waltrip and Sterling Marlin
both raced locally at Nashville on their way up the ladder and combined
to lead every lap in this one. It was the third of Waltrip's eight Cup
wins on this little high-banked short track before it left the schedule
after 1984.
