Darrell Waltrip was wrecked on lap 311 after bumping Bobby Allison out
of the lead. Bobby put Darrell into the wall and into more of a
downslide in the points.

Benny Parsons went winless throughout most of 1979, his first year
driving for M.C. Anderson in the #27 after leaving his longtime seat in
L.G. DeWitt's #72, but made up for it down the stretch with this victory
coming near the start of a late season hot streak that saw him pick up
two wins and four top-10s in the last five races.
