The same discrepancy as with the 1979 race #26 in this database. 2. me posted: 02.06.2008 - 2:35 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) NASCAR.com shows Roger Hamby in the #17, not Bill Elliott. 3. Cause remember in the old days all you had to do was turn on the keys and you'd get points, Hamby could have done that. 8. Those reports do not account for relief drivers, so Elliott may have been in the car at some point during the race but (as always) the starting driver gets credit for the stats & points. 9. Unfortunately, because the car was not in contention for top-10, there's no mention about it in the race report, no photos either. In 1979 Bill drove for Hamby in three races (Bristol-II, Richmond-II, Rockingham-II), so apparently at that time there was some kind of partnership between them and Bill entering another race in Bristol in #17 car seem plausible. However in this case only Bill himself can give a definite answer, was it him or not. 10. rateus posted: 02.11.2021 - 4:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DK Ulrich qualified 16th but handed that ride over to Dick May who had separately qualified 27th - Travis Tiller took over May's original car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
