During the race, Cale Yarborough ran out of gas while leading, and coasted from turn #3 to the pits. Note that were NO Cautions during this race. I believe that this has happened only one time since. 3. Anonymous posted: 10.07.2009 - 6:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Note that were NO Cautions during this race. Finally cured with a long bungee cord, after several lost laps in the pits, finishing 11th. 6. Still impressive though. 8. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 01.23.2016 - 10:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Note: Rookie standings after this race (sponsored by Champion Spark Plug at this time) 1) Jody Ridley = 180 points 2) Slick Johnson = 99 3) Bill Elswick = 93 4) Kyle Petty = 67 5) Lake Speed = 66 6) John Anderson = 60 7) Junior Miller = 43 8) Tommy Houston = 39 9) Randy Ogden = 24 10) Kevin Housby = 16 11) Bill Whittington = 6 9. Only a few people in front of us on the start finish line. Bobby Allison's Ford was popping and spitting back like it had a burnt valve but after pitting it ran ok again. We sat and talked to him at a seafood restaurant after the race and he told us a plug wire was off. He had his wife Judy and son Clifford with him. He was nice and very easy to talk too. He picked up on our Southern accent and asked what we were doing in Texas. I am from NC but was working in Glen Rose Texas building a Nuclear Power Plant at the time. 11. rateus posted: 02.11.2021 - 5:17 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Starting line-up shows Billy Hagan qualified for Dick May. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
