This race didnt even start until about 5:30pm eastern time, due to rain
all day long. When the race ended you could barely see the cars down the
backstretch from the grandstand seats.

I left at about 4:30 before the start of the race around fiquring they
would never get it going. I didn't return to MIS until the June 1983
event because of the poor communication with the fans at this race.

Tighe Scott records his final top-10 finish. The end of his Cup career
was fast approaching, he would only four further starts on the tour.

Supposedly, according to the Bill Elliott trivia diecast, this was the
first race Kyle Petty passed Richard Petty for position on the track.

What an odd trivia answer.

That is an odd fact, but not surprising given Richard was still
competitive and Kyle had just begun racing stock cars a few years earlier.
