Morgan Shepherd came into this race with 0 laps led in 8 Winston Cup
starts, and busts out with a pole qualifying run and 150 circuits led in
his season debut. How about that?

J.D. McDuffie comes home 10th to claim his lone top-10 finish of the
season. This would be the penultimate top-10 of McDuffie's career and
the first of just two for him while driving the new downsized Pontiac
NASCAR racers.

Owner Update II

#28 Harry Ranier << -- Actually the owner was Butch Lindley. Bobby's
Pontiac LeMans blew a tire in practice and the car went the threw the
guardrail. After searching for ride he worked a deal with Butch to start
the race and then turn the car over to Butch, which he did.

The Sportsman div ran the Eastern 150 the day before this, the winner
was Brad Teague, followed by Gene Glover, Rick Mast, John Livingston and
Morgan Shepherd.

Several changes between qualifying and the race - in addition to Buth
Lindley qualifying the car that Bobby Allison started, Bub Strickler
qualified for Don Sprouse, Dick May qualified for Tommy Gale and Bobby
Wawak qualified for Henry Jones.
