I'm a big Darrell Waltrip fan and this was his 1st win with Junior Johnson. On this day I deceided to get married instead of going to the race - I should have went to the race! 3. He won at Richmond the week prior. 4. jessie henry posted: 08.05.2011 - 12:10 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) the commeryts bob jennkins ell gold 5. Richard Petty tried to stretch his fuel to the finish but ran out of fuel in the closing laps, handing the win to Darrell Waltrip. As Richard came out of pit road onto the track after his stop, he nearly crashed into his son, Kyle. 7. b4il3y posted: 08.29.2013 - 3:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #11 should not have won this. 8. It was not until the latter part of the decade when NASCAR telecasts, whether on ESPN, TBS or on the specialty channels, where we would have two man or three man commentary teams as well as two and three man pit road reporters. Then, of course, the new millennium hits and we would go into the era of four man pit road reporters. 13. Corey posted: 03.14.2020 - 11:02 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @11 Two lead analysts at that. Television coverage of NASCAR was still in the early days, and Rockingham wasn't exactly a marque racing event, like Daytona and Indy. Add to the fact that ESPN was only 1.5 years old at that point and I'm not surprised at the bare bones style. It looks like there are only 3-4 cameras total. 14. The winner was Dave Marcis, Harry Gant was second followed by J.D. McDuffie, Rusty Wallace and Brad Teague. 15. rateus posted: 02.09.2021 - 4:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Srarting line-up shows Jody Ridley actually qualified P13 in a Ford (presumably his usual Junie Donlavey ride), his starting position indicates he moved to the car qualified by Dick May for the race. Lennie Pond qualified the #48 for James Hylton. 16.
