An odd thing I just realized. Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Mark Martin
and Harry Gant all have something in common: Richard Petty won their
debuts.

First start for 54 year old (As of 2013) Mark Martin. Now most likely
for sure he will retire. Mark deserved the 1990 championship, Also 1997,
Cant be forgetting 2002, Oh yeah, And 2009!

Marcis has this race bagged until he ran out of tires...... Reminds me
of Nashville in '79 when J.D. McDuffie led close to 120 laps and had to
pit late in the going.....

The NASCAR International Sedan Series (Dash) ran the Spring 100 the day
before this race, the winner was Dean Combs in a Datsun, followed by
Mickey York, G.W. Gibson, Bobby Roberts and Rodney Howard.

according to the 1981 Winston Cup Yearbook, Jake Elder was Harry Gant's
crew chief for this race

16, 1980 was Cales last full season. He only ran 18 of 31 races in 1981.

Charlie Chamblee qualified P27 in a Pontiac but failed to take the start
for some reason, everyone behind moved up 1 place.
