Ricky Rudd got into a wreck with Darrell Waltrip, Benny Parsons, Dale Earnhardt, and Bill Elliott that sheered off the right side of his car. 2. Mike led his first laps in the race and picked up his first lead lap finish. 3. myself posted: 02.14.2007 - 6:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Cale's final win in the Firecracker 400! Would've had one in 84', & nearly did, even though his main competition in that race was a car w/ an illegal motor! 4. Rutherford ran a legitmate part-time schedule in 1981, running 12 of the 31 races. 6. myself posted: 08.21.2009 - 12:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I'd give your left arm for some video of this race! 7. There had been brush fires that had been burning through the region and the smoke was like a heavy fog. NASCAR was concerned with visibility on the track. Some of the activities, including qualifying, had already been delayed a couple of hours due to the thick smoke in the air. Race morning the visibility was good enough for the race to start at the scheduled time of 10AM. A very competitive race. At one point late in the race Richard and Kyle were 1-2 following a caution but Yarborough and Gant caught and passed them as they were the class of the field that day. Very exicitng finish as Cale used the slingshot to pass Gant on the final lap to win by 2 car lengths. 11. Stacey, who had bought the team in a secret deal with Rod Osterlund. Earnhardt hated Stacey. Stay tuned. 13. myself posted: 04.07.2015 - 12:35 pm Rate this comment: (2) (2) ....still looking to give someone's left arm! 14. myself posted: 02.17.2016 - 12:32 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) .......and still looking!! 15. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 06.18.2016 - 12:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Caution 1: Lap 9-13: #62 engine Caution 2: Lap 18-29: #2,9,11,15,31,88 accident turn 4 Caution 3: Lap 35-39: #75 accident tri-oval Caution 4: Lap 55-59: #99 accident turn 1 Caution 5: Lap 77-81: #66 engine Caution 6: Lap 127-131: #75 spun turn 1 16. myself posted: 01.12.2017 - 11:47 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) still looking, damnit! 17. nascarman posted: 07.07.2018 - 8:56 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) DNQ: # / Driver / Sponsor / Owner / Make 49 / Hurley Haywood / Penthouse Magazine / Harry Dinwiddie / Pontiac http://www.racing-reference.info/showblog?id=3286 18. nascarman posted: 07.07.2018 - 9:30 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Here's the video of this race, myself, give me your left arm! https://youtu.be/rDOGu5Q6HVU 19. kornnut43 posted: 11.08.2018 - 10:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Whoa, Rudd was quite lucky in that wreck - judging by the clip on YouTube, he got hooked into the wall right where there's a gate (one that came into play in a few nasty wrecks over the years), and grazed it in a way it just tore everything clean off the side of his car.
