Last race for Billie Harvey....went for a variety of drug charges after
this race along with one of his partner, Gary Balough.

Tim Richmond's lone NASCAR Cup start in a Ford. He previouosly used a
Ford to win the Daytona 500 Consolation Race earlier in the year.

Not a terribly high Attrition rate, but it looks like a lot of cars
spent significant time behind the wall. 12th place Gary Balough crashed
out with 48 laps left and 10th place J.D. McDuffe was a slightly more on
pace with only 24 laps fewer then the leader.

I am 99.9% sure that the car owner for Tim Richmond for this race and
his DNQ at Daytona is incorrect. If I remember correctly, the No. 29
Ford was fielded by Fast Company, a team owned by a guy named Mike
Lovern. Billie Harvey's team was known as Fast Lane LTD and fielded GM
cars with the No. 31.

Future NASCAR driver Danica Patrick was born three days before this
race. About 31 years after this one she would become the first female
driver to run a full season in the Cup series.

This was Cale Yarborough's seventh Cup win at Rockingham, while he kept
racing at the Rock through 1987 this would turn out to be his last top-5
finish at this track.

Ernie Cline makes his only start of the season. Despite mechanical woes
sending his Pontiac to the sidelines before halfway his 29th-place
finish was still his best in Winston Cup action.

On the initial weekend (26-28 February) Martin crashed his car heavily
and had to withdraw. Since Tom Sneva had commitments already for the new
race date, the deal was made between Mark and Bob Rogers.

I'm guessing this race was supposed to originally be run in early March,
but got postponed due to weather.

It's been about two years now but I am also with comment #8 by Pale
Writer on this. The guy who owned the #29 Ford driven very early in 1982
by Tim Richmond was Mike Lovern and not Billie Harvey. I think the
confusion comes in because of the similarity in the names of the teams
(Harvey's Fast Lane versus Lovern's Fast Company).

Dick Brooks and Lennie Pond also didn't return for the rescheduled date
after qualifying on the original weekend - Brooks qualified P16 and Pond
qualified P29.
