Dennis even lead a lap! 2. myself posted: 02.14.2007 - 6:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) After the checker flag flew, Cale & Darrell had an altercation in turns 1 & 2 that ended w/ Darrell spinning out in the grass. In the post-race interview, Waltrip was asked about it. "No problem" was his response. The reporter tried to ask him once more about it. This time Darrell yelled the words @ him, "NO PROBLEM!!!!" He was a big time @$$ back then! 3. myself posted: 02.14.2007 - 6:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cale's final win for M.C. Anderson. Their brief period together was less that stellar by Cale's standards! Only won 4 races in 2 years. 4. myself posted: 02.14.2007 - 6:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I correct myself. Cale won one more race in 82': the Southern 500. 5. kyle posted: 07.24.2007 - 9:49 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) if i recall this race was finished at dusk due to a tornado coming through the area and causing if im remembering correctly a 4 or 5 hour delay. i think this was the first flag to flag televised race at mis as well. 6. myself posted: 02.21.2008 - 12:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Your are correct on both accounts, Kyle. 7. This was also Robin's best career finish 8. Harry Ranier was upset Parsons hadn't won so he fired him. Ranier re-hired Baker and Hoss Ellington hired Parsons as he was the best choice available. Neither driver did much better after the switch. 20. Anonymous posted: 04.06.2017 - 11:42 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) This race ended at 9:30pm ET. 21. It helps that Michigan is on the far western end of the Eastern time zone and that this race was run on the day before the longest one of the year. 22. Mannoroth posted: 04.06.2017 - 1:53 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Yep, the most beautiful thing about days around June 21 is that you have almost 16 hours of daylight. So no problem to finish races late in the evening even without the lights. 23. saltsburgtrojanfan posted: 11.08.2017 - 7:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) caution corrections Caution 1: Lap 10-14 Caution 2: Lap 23-53 Caution 3: Lap 153-158 24. I don't know if NASCAR had the jet dryer yet and earlier track drying efforts often basically amounted to driving around the track in various track vehicles. 26. Anonymous posted: 01.28.2019 - 2:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't think the jet dryer was even invented until the early to mid-'90s. 27. dennyfan11 posted: 10.09.2019 - 10:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This race was planned to be aired live and flag to flag. However, due to the two rain delays CBS went over their window, and had to sign off during the second rain delay, though they aired 15 minutes of highlights, including the finish, at 11:30 PM EST. As well, this is possibly the latest a race at a track without lights finished at- it finished around 9:00 PM, 15 minutes before sunset. 28. Martin only led four laps all over three different races in 1982. 29. Canadianfan posted: 04.22.2020 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Buddy Airington was in a Chrysler not a Dodge in this race. Ken Squier mentioned twice before the start that he was the only Chrysler in the field and they did a nice camera pan past his car on pit road. 30. rateus posted: 02.08.2021 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Driver Change - James Hylton's ride was qualified by Joe Millikan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
