Boy....Earnhardt's really burning up the circuit! After 9 races, he's
not even in the top 20 in points!

That's a nice tribute to Marty Robbins, who died December 8, 1982.

Darrell Waltrip's win became tremendous. Ronny, Marty's son gave him a
uniform and gold albums.

This could have been TNN's first NASCAR Winston Cup broadcast. The
network launched in March 1983 and aired this race as part of its
"American Sports Cavalcade" program that aired tape delayed motorsports
events.

Before this race started Ronny Robbins drove a few pace laps in Marty
Robbins' last Cup car, a self-sponsored purple-and-yellow #22 Buick that
Marty raced in 1982. The car was specially restored for the occasion.

The ASC coverage only showed 4 of the 5 cautions. 2 for rain, 1 for Dale
Earnhardt being spun by Tim Richmond, and a crash by Kyle Petty and Mark
Martin.
They also had several driver interviews about how poor the pit road at
Nashville was.
They also had interviews with Doyle Ford, and Coo Coo Marlin talking
about Marty Robbins, as well as a feature on Morgan Shepherd's roller
skating.
