The Gas Man wore a weird helmet in this race, in CART everyone in this era wore full-face helmets but in NASCAR the open-face one was still par for the course so Sneva wore one in this race but put a small football helmet-like facemark on it to give his face added protection, noting he wanted the better air circulation in a hot stock car of an open helmet with more protection like a closed one. 12.
